Now the most populated city in Tuscany, Florence is recognized as the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance and is lauded for its magnificent sites. You’ll visit the architectural gem of Florence, the domed cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, better known as The Duomo (outside visit). This 14th century masterpiece is visible throughout the city and is the most-visited attraction in Florence. The tour will then proceed to the Campanile (bell tower), partly designed by Giotto, and the accompanying Baptistery, graced with spectacular bronze doors that artist Michelangelo dubbed “The Gates of Paradise.

Lunch in a typical restaurant in Santa Croce Square.

Day 4: Florence – Bologna – Venice
(Breakfast, Local Food Experience)

Start the day with a delicious breakfast and then depart for Bologna.

Arriving, the little city center—which boasts famous porticos— awaits your free-time discovery. Starting at Piazza Malpighi, which leads to Piazza del Nettuno and Piazza Maggiore, your walking tour will start. Here you can wonder at the Basilica of San Petronio, the biggest Gothic church constructed of bricks, and the ancient Palace Podestà. We will then show you why Bologna, with its rich and varied street food culture as rich and varied as its culinary legacy, is sometimes described as Italy’s gourmet capital. Wandering the historic alleyways of the city, you will come across a wonderful range of food vendors and markets, each presenting a tantalizing mix of both classic and modern cuisine. Discovering the little lanes and busy piazzas will transport you to a gastronomic journey transcending just dining. This is your opportunity to taste the real flavors and distinctive cuisine that define Bologna’s well-known gastronomic character by means of a street food light lunch experience at a nearby restaurant presented by us. We then keep on our path to Venice (Mestre late in the afternoon).

Enjoy an overnight stay in the city the New York Times called “undoubtedly the most beautiful city ever built by man.”

After the visit, you will drive along the Sorrentine Coast until you reach Sorrento. You will check into your new hotel for the night and have dinner there (men should wear a jacket).
